Traditional Orchard Survey
October 2009 - OBee Volunteers are busy surveying old orchard sites in Ringshall and Battisford. Working from a 1904 map, they are looking to see how many of these traditional orchards still exist. The survey has been organised by the Suffolk Biodiversity Partnership. Old orchards are recognised as being sites rich in biodiversity and important habitat for wildlife. There are some delightful old varieties hidden away in old meadows, just waiting to be discovered!
Lammas Barn Dance
1st August 2009 - A big thank-you to OBee Volunteers, friends and trainees who warmed the barn (and themselves) by dancing and singing together. Music was provided by local musicians; Stefan Freedman, Eddie Mann and Jess, Gary Alexander and Sebastiana.
Staverton Tour and Picnic
7th June 2009 - Gary Battell gave an excellent tour of, and talk about Staverton Thicks. OBee friends and volunteers enjoyed a picnic together afterwards.
