OBee CIC's Annual Report for 2017-18



As a Community Interest Company we produce an annual report - based on our social, environmental and heritage outcomes. This report was verified by OBee CIC Members at our AGM on 9.3.19.

The headlines for the year 1.10.17 - 30.9.18 were:-

1,140 Volunteer days comprising of 850 practical days and 290 management

The 'In-kind' value of the 1,140 days was £85,825 (based on HLF rates)

12 Volunteers live in the Bosmere Ward, 14 others live in Suffolk, another 4 in the rest of East Anglia and 2 from the rest of the UK

  • The garden project continues to grow (thank-you Steve for co-ordinating the Tuesday Volunteers)
  • Volunteer skills development included fruit tree pruning, shingle making, composting, juicing, saw restoration, sharpening
  • Monthly working parties helped with the restoration of a local woodland
  • OBee friends and family celebrated the CIC's 10th birthday with a party
  • We delivered 172.5 practical training days to 119 students - timber framing, wattle and daub, roundwood framing, elm bast greenwood stool making
  • We delivered informal workshops and talks to 850 children and adults at events around the county
  • Delivered two Breaking New Ground/HLF funded workshops at West Stow
  • Featured on Look East and Radio Suffolk


Partnership working included Greenways Ipswich and National Trust Greenwood Craft Group from Wimpole

We worked collaboratively with local green wood workers to deliver Suffolk's first Saw Fest, a series of workshops and demonstrations

Out and about at Ecobuild, Spring Wood Open Day, Weird and Wonderful Wood, Latitude Festival, Folk East, Pakenham Water Mill, Battisford and Chelmondiston Gardening Clubs.
