This Experience Day shows you how our ancestors built with their local landscape in low-tech and sustainable ways.

Building is fun and easy. Think small and local. Involve your friends and family. Celebrate a special event or birthday - please contact Sarah to discuss dates/themes.

We run one Experience Days a month,(more in the summer) small group sizes enable us to adapt them according to your interests.  Come on your own or make up a party. Children over 12 years welcome.

Itinerary for the day

10.00-10.10 Intro to our 'Off-Grid' site over a cuppa

10.15-11.00 Guided Tour of restoration/natural build community project. Trees to timber - understanding traditional timber frames. Where do materials come from?

11.00-12.45 Woodland Craft - make a timber framing peg using a shave horse and greenwood tools

12.45-1.30 Lunch includes how to boil water using sticks

1.30-2.00 A look at Earth in our building

2.00-3.30 Making and using clay lump or daub

3.30-4.00 Designing your own project - Questions and Answers
