The story of the old house at Orchard Barn
On Wednesday 29th August 2007, the East Anglian Daily Times printed this 1920's photograph from the archives of Dave Kindred.
Morton Turner of Battisford confirmed that the photograph is of Philip Laflin (left) and Arthur Waspe (right). In the background, there are 2 houses. The one on the left is 9 Elms Farmhouse, and the one on the right is the old house that stood in the grounds of Orchard Barn.
The old house was last inhabited in the 1930's by Joseph Rowse. The south end was used to house chickens, but has unfortunately succumbed to the forces of gravity.
Please contact Sarah if you have any information about the old house or the farmstead.
