Rural arts projects at Orchard Barn
May 2007, participants at our Dance Journey workshop marked and celebrated the festival of Beltane and the increased vigour of Nature's growth.
Participants created sculptures to mark the 4 cardinal points of the circle (which represents the annual growth cycle)..
Each of the 4 directions was associated with an element.
An Airy hanging was suspended from the Elm in the East of our circle.
Under the shade of the old Walnut, South and the element of Fire was represented with flame.
West was honoured by the creation of a small pond and the element of Water. This was made under an old Apple tree.
North was marked by a collection of flint under an ancient Elder tree. This sculpture of stones celebrated the element of Earth.
