Volunteering at Orchard Barn - a record of our working parties
Saturday 25th August 2007
Many thanks to the growing Orchard Barn community for your enthuisiasm and energetic help. (Sorry, we don't have photos of you all.)

The two photos directly above show the first stage of our 'tree to timber' project. To see what we did next with the Elm visit Sunday 26th August 2007. What the photos don't show are:-
- the growing compost heaps that you made larger
- the clearances you made (the nettles you chopped)
- the lovingly repaired gate
- the 30' Elm tree as it finally came down (It had the beginnings of Dutch Elm disease. Felling it at an early stage enabled us to use it in a creative, productive way as a gate post, whereas in a years time it would have only be good for firewood.)
- the love and attention to detail that you so willingly brought with you
- the community spirit that we are nurturing
- the fantastic food that was created over our wood fire
See Sunday 26th August 2007 for more of the 'tree to timber' story and the timely tale of the 'Monkey Digger'.
If you are thinking of volunteering at Orchard Barn, please email Sarah to find out when we plan to be working there.
